Yesterday CULRC lined up against Eton in the first round of the Temple Challenge Cup at Henley Royal Regatta. The weather was clear and hot, and the wind, which had been changeable through out the day, had swung to the south making it a moderate headwind. Both crews started well striking in the high 40s. Coming off the end of the island Eton made their extra 3 ½ stone per man count into the headwind and put in an early push to take a ½ length lead by the barrier. HRR 2010

Cambridge made it two wins in a row in this years Lightweight Boat race. Both crews had shown good speed in warm up fixtures against crews from London RC, Goldie, Leander, UL and Bristol University, and looked sharp in the build up to the race. Oxford won the toss and chose the Berks station with the better of the strong stream conditions. HBRWeb 2010

There are 2 events looming large in the CULRC Alumni calendar. The Alumni Race and the Alumni Dinner on Feb 27th We would like to see you involved in both events, the racing if you think you're up to it, or even if you're not and the dinner should be a great event with many already confirmed. Firstly, organisation is underway to put the Blue Boat through its paces against the wily old boys crew. Always one to watch this has been scheduled in London on the 27th Feb to coincide with some side by side training with London Rowing Club. Both races will prove testing, for different reasons perhaps, the crew will need to draw on all its experience to cope with the 2 opponents
