Teague Smith

Introducing President Teague Smith

Teague started rowing as a Junior 14 for Marlow Rowing Club whilst a pupil at Dr Challoner’s Grammar School. He continued to row throughout his school career, competing at several national regattas.

When he was accepted to read Veterinary Medicine at Cambridge he set his sights on rowing in a Boat Race crew for the Cambridge University Lightweight squad. Teague was thrilled to achieved selection for the 2019 squad, after racing for Girton College Boat Club for three years.

The last academic year has been a rewarding challenge for Teague. He has enjoyed his time trialling during this past year and was very proud to race in the first Lightweight Men’s Boat Race on the Tideway.

Now heading into his fifth and penultimate year of his degree, Teague says,

“I am looking forward to leading the club into the 2019-2020 season and to working with Vice President Sam and my counterparts at CUWBC to build a strong and cohesive team”

Samuel Armstrong
Robinson College

Introducing Vice- President Samuel

Samuel is also a Veterinary Medicine student who has been rowing for the past 7 years. He began rowing at Portora Royal School in 2012, inspired by the London Olympic Games.

During his school years he have won medals at the Irish Championships and represented Ireland at the Home Internationals and Coupe de la Jeunesse.

Since coming to Cambridge 3 years ago, he has been rowing for Robinson College Boat Club. Samuel has been Robinson’s College Boat Club Men’s Captain for the past 2 years, a role he has found rewarding.

Samuel achieved selection for the Light Blues this year and rowed in the 2019 Lightweight Blue Boat which took place on the Putney to Mortlake, Championship Course for the first time this year.
