Tom Roe elected as CULRC President 2018/19

On 1 August, Tom Roe (Emmanuel) became the President of CULRC for the 2019 Lightweight Boat Race Campaign.

Tom, who is a Veterinary Medicine student took up rowing as a J14 at the Grange School in Cheshire, and rowing has been a big part of his life ever since. During his time at the Grange, Tom won medals at the National Schools’ Regatta, The British Rowing Championships and the Junior Inter Regional Regatta among many others.

Speaking on his election, Tom said:

“I enjoyed trialling for CULRC last season and stroked Granta to a win in bitterly cold conditions on Dorney Lake. In the coming year, I am looking forward to leading the squad as we adopt a new coaching structure and work ever closer with CUWBC as we form one team under a new Chief Coach.”

Jon Shoesmith (Peterhouse) and Jonathan Vibhishanan (Pembroke) were elected as Vice Presidents to support Tom in his role.

Thanks were given by the Executive Committee and Squad to the outgoing President  Zenas Van Veldhoven and his Junior Committee their hard work during such a successful year for the Club.
