Henley Royal Regatta 2010

Yesterday CULRC lined up against Eton in the first round of the Temple Challenge Cup at Henley Royal Regatta.

The weather was clear and hot, and the wind, which had been changeable through out the day, had swung to the south making it a moderate headwind.

Both crews started well striking in the high 40s. Coming off the end of the island Eton made their extra 3 ½ stone per man count into the headwind and put in an early push to take a ½ length lead by the barrier.

Seats were then traded with Eton throughout the middle of the course.

Coming past Remenham Club CULRC made a big push to try and break the Eton crew. Eton’s lead was reduced to a seat but CULRC were unable to get their bows ahead as the Eton crew held their cool.

The final verdict was a victory for Eton by 2/3 of a length.
